THE WIZARD OF WHITEHORSE SHIRT

The Wizard of Whitehorse has arrived in Toronto, and his first NHL goal was worth the wait.

On October 6, 2026, Gavin McKenna, the first overall selection in the 2026 NHL Draft, scored his first professional goal during the Toronto Maple Leafs’ thrilling 5–4 overtime comeback against the Nashville Predators.

The WIZARD OF WHITEHORSE SHIRT celebrates the highly anticipated rookie through a magical hockey-inspired graphic featuring McKenna in his No. 92 uniform, whimsical lettering, and sparkling stars against Toronto’s unmistakable royal-blue background.

Storytelling:

From the frozen landscapes of Whitehorse, Yukon, to the bright lights of Scotiabank Arena, Gavin McKenna’s journey has been extraordinary.

Long before Toronto selected him first overall in the 2026 NHL Draft, McKenna was attracting national attention through his remarkable skating, creativity, and offensive instincts.

His performances with the Medicine Hat Tigers and Penn State helped establish him as one of hockey’s most exciting young prospects.

Those skills also inspired a nickname that followed him into the NHL: The Wizard of Whitehorse.

It connects his hometown in Canada’s Yukon territory with the seemingly magical ability to create scoring opportunities.

After three scoreless NHL appearances, McKenna finally delivered his breakthrough against Nashville on October 6.

Toronto initially faced a difficult situation, falling behind 3–0 before mounting an impressive comeback.

McKenna’s first contribution came at 4:56 of the second period, when he recorded the primary assist on John Tavares’ goal.

Approximately ten minutes later, the rookie produced the moment everyone had been waiting for.

Taking a pass from Auston Matthews, McKenna fired a powerful shot into the upper portion of Nashville goaltender Juuse Saros’ net at 14:31 of the second period.

It was his first NHL goal, cutting Nashville’s advantage to 4–3.

The 18-year-old dropped toward one knee in celebration as Scotiabank Arena erupted. His teammates gathered around him, recognizing a milestone in the young forward’s career.

Toronto eventually completed its comeback when Matthews scored the overtime winner with just 14 seconds remaining.

McKenna finished with his first career NHL goal and assist, making the victory his first multi-point performance.

At the top, the smaller word “THE” leads into the enormous “WIZARD,” followed by “OF” and the prominent lower word “WHITEHORSE.”

The irregular, pointed letter shapes evoke classic magical adventure titles rather than ordinary athletic block lettering.

Gavin McKenna appears between the upper and lower text, wearing a blue Toronto-style hockey uniform with No. 92 visible on his sleeve.

His illustrated figure holds a hockey stick angled diagonally behind him, with dark-blue shading defining the uniform and protective equipment.

Small white stars and sparkling symbols surround the player, reinforcing the wizard theme.

The name “GAVIN McKENNA” appears in small dark lettering beside the central illustration.

There is no scoreboard, Nashville logo, trophy, or printed game date. The design connects the player, nickname, and magical aesthetic.
