SHO-TIME! SHIRT

When Shohei Ohtani arrives, it is officially Sho-Time.

The SHO-TIME! SHIRT takes one of baseball’s most recognizable modern nicknames and turns it into a playful Los Angeles scene. Cartoon Ohtani walks forward with a bat while a smiling hot dog character marches beside him, both wearing matching blue baseball caps. Above them, “LOS ANGELES BASEBALL SHO-TIME!” is paired with Ohtani’s Japanese name, 大谷 翔平.

It is part Japanese baseball tribute, part Dodger Stadium culture and part celebration of the player who has made “Sho-Time” understandable in almost any language.

Storytelling:

“Sho-Time” is not a phrase invented just for this artwork. It has been attached to Ohtani since his early Major League years, and MLB itself has repeatedly used “It’s Sho-Time” in campaigns built around his ability to dominate both sides of the game. MLB’s player profile continues to list “Showtime” as Ohtani’s nickname. MLB.com

That nickname becomes even more meaningful in Los Angeles because Ohtani has turned Dodgers games into global events. Japanese audiences follow him daily, Dodger Stadium has increasingly incorporated Japanese food and cultural connections, and his name — 大谷翔平 — now belongs naturally beside Los Angeles baseball rather than feeling like an overseas reference added afterward.

The 2026 season added another remarkable two-way chapter. Ohtani finished the regular season batting .275 with 30 home runs, 81 RBI, 11 stolen bases and an .889 OPS. On the mound, he went 8-2 with a 1.79 ERA and 95 strikeouts across 14 starts. MLB.com

His pitching season ended early because of right biceps discomfort, with Ohtani saying in September that he expected to focus on hitting for the rest of 2026. He returned from the injured list on September 23, giving Los Angeles several games to get his bat ready for October. MLB.com

The Dodgers finished with 100 wins, captured another NL West title and earned the National League’s No. 2 seed. They also received a first-round bye and entered October attempting to become MLB’s first three-peat World Series champion since the 1998-2000 Yankees. MLB.com

That is why “Sho-Time” still works. It is not tied to one home run or one specific stat. It describes the moment when baseball’s most unusual superstar becomes the center of the game.

Product Description:

The SHO-TIME! SHIRT – Shohei Ohtani Los Angeles Baseball Cartoon Tee approaches Ohtani differently from a conventional No. 17 player portrait.

Instead, the design turns him into a cheerful illustrated character and surrounds him with visual references to both Japan and Los Angeles.

Ohtani’s Japanese name, 大谷 翔平, sits prominently under “SHO-TIME!” while the cartoon player wears blue-and-white baseball colors and carries a bat. The second character is an anthropomorphic hot dog, which strongly reads as a playful reference to the Dodger Dog — one of the most recognizable food traditions at Dodger Stadium. MLB describes the Dodger Dog as a staple of the stadium experience, and current stadium guides continue to feature it throughout the ballpark. MLB.com

Visual Interpretation:

The graphic appears on white and royal-blue shirt bases.

At the top, small text reads “LOS ANGELES BASEBALL.” Underneath, the much larger “SHO-TIME!” uses angular blue lettering with a fast, sporty feel.

Directly beneath it is 大谷 翔平, Ohtani’s name written in Japanese characters.

The left character is a smiling cartoon Ohtani in a white-and-blue baseball uniform, stepping forward while carrying a bat. His blue cap carries a stylized No. 17 reference, connecting the character to Ohtani without needing a realistic portrait.

Beside him is a red hot dog character inside a golden bun, complete with mustard, white gloves, oversized red shoes and a matching baseball cap. The character holds up a baseball, almost like Ohtani and the Dodger Dog have become teammates.

That pairing is the real charm of the design: global superstar meets local ballpark tradition.
