BROCKTOBER SHIRT

October has belonged to Brock Purdy before. San Francisco fans are starting to believe it might again.

The BROCKTOBER SHIRT brings one of Purdy’s oldest nicknames into his current 49ers era with dripping red-and-gold horror lettering and a small SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS identifier underneath. It looks like spooky-season football merch, but “Brocktober” is not a nickname invented for Halloween 2026.

It goes all the way back to Purdy’s Iowa State days—and the timing of its return could hardly be better.

San Francisco enters October 2026 at 3–0, while Purdy just earned the first NFC Offensive Player of the Month award of his career after throwing nine September touchdowns and leading all NFL quarterbacks with a 133.1 passer rating. San Francisco 49ers

Storytelling:

Before Brock Purdy was Mr. Irrelevant, the 49ers’ starting quarterback, or an NFL MVP candidate, Iowa State fans already had a month named after him.

Brocktober grew out of what happened after Purdy emerged for the Cyclones in 2018. His first career start at Jack Trice Stadium came on October 13 against undefeated No. 6 West Virginia. Purdy threw for 254 yards and three touchdowns as Iowa State stunned the Mountaineers 30–14. The victory became one of the foundational moments of his college career. Iowa State Athletics

October success kept following him.

By the end of his Iowa State career, the Cyclones had gone 12–3 with Purdy at quarterback in October, an extraordinary run that turned “Brocktober” from a casual pun into an established piece of Cyclone fan culture. Iowa State-focused merchandise even used “Welcome to Brocktober” during the NIL era, long before Purdy became an NFL star. Iowa State Athletics

The nickname followed him into professional football.

Purdy has spoken publicly about the old Brocktober connection, and by October 2026 the phrase is again circulating among 49ers fans as the calendar flips from September. Fan posts welcoming the return of Brocktober are now resurfacing while San Francisco remains undefeated. Apple Podcasts

The timing gives the joke much more energy than nostalgia alone.

Purdy opened the 2026 season with three touchdown passes against the Rams in Melbourne. Through three games, he has completed 60 of 83 passes for 789 yards, nine touchdowns and a 133.1 passer rating, while also adding 93 rushing yards and another score. Those numbers earned him NFC Offensive Player of the Month for September. San Francisco 49ers

Then came San Francisco’s 36–30 win over Arizona, where Purdy threw for 297 yards and four touchdowns as the 49ers improved to 3–0. Reuters

So when the calendar now says October, “Brocktober” carries two timelines at once.

Iowa State fans remember where it began.
49ers fans see what it could become next.

Product Description:

The BROCKTOBER SHIRT – Brock Purdy San Francisco 49ers October Tee turns Purdy’s college-era October legend into a dark, seasonal 49ers graphic.

Unlike a standard Purdy jersey-number design, this shirt is centered entirely around the nickname. That makes it work as both a player reference and a cultural callback for fans who know his history before San Francisco.

The timing also gives the design a real 2026 storyline. Purdy is entering October with the 49ers unbeaten, fresh off his best September start yet and already appearing in early MVP conversations. The Guardian called him one of the biggest surprises of the young NFL season as he leads an injury-hit San Francisco team into Week 4. The Guardian

For a nickname built around one month, the moment has arrived naturally.

Visual Interpretation:

The artwork uses a solid black shirt base, creating maximum contrast with the fiery central wordmark.

BROCKTOBER stretches horizontally across the chest in oversized horror-inspired lettering. The letterforms are jagged and slightly distorted, with extended drips and pointed edges that give the word a classic October, Halloween and heavy-metal poster feel.

The primary lettering is deep 49ers red, surrounded by brighter red highlights and a thin gold outline, tying the spooky typography back to San Francisco’s team palette.

Underneath sits a much smaller line reading SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS, spaced widely in muted gold and flanked by simple horizontal lines.

There is no Purdy portrait, number 13, football or helmet. The restraint is deliberate. The nickname itself is recognizable enough to carry the entire design, while the horror styling visually transforms “October” inside Brocktober into the seasonal concept.
