KAThausen: The Night Karl-Anthony Towns Came Out of Danhausen’s Cloning Machine

WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event had already turned Madison Square Garden into a Knicks-and-wrestling crossover. Then Danhausen put a stuffed cat into a cloning machine and Karl-Anthony Towns walked out.

There are celebrity wrestling appearances, and then there is Karl-Anthony Towns emerging from a fictional cloning machine because somebody put a stuffed cat inside it.

That was the visual payoff WWE delivered at Madison Square Garden on July 18, 2026. Danhausen was fighting JD McDonagh in a No Disqualification match while Dominik Mysterio repeatedly interfered on behalf of The Judgment Day. Minihausens appeared. A table came out. A stolen Knicks jersey became part of the taunting. The match was already operating on Danhausen logic.

Then the machine opened.

Towns — known everywhere in basketball as KAT — stepped out wearing dark sunglasses and a blue ChampHausen-style Knicks championship top. WWE’s own social account immediately gave the transformation its name: “IT’S KATHAUSEN!!!”

Put KAT into Danhausen’s machine and the joke writes itself: Karl-Anthony Towns becomes KAThausen.

The Moment Was Built for Madison Square Garden

WWE did not drop Towns into a random arena. This happened at Madison Square Garden, the building where Knicks basketball and professional wrestling already share decades of cultural memory.

Danhausen’s storyline had also been orbiting the Knicks. His strange curse-and-uncurse presence had become part of New York’s championship-season internet folklore, while WWE leaned into the connection through Knicks-colored gear, custom jerseys and crossover appearances.

Towns therefore arrived as something more specific than “NBA player appears at wrestling show.” He was a Knicks champion entering a wrestling storyline already written in New York colors.

Two Chokeslams Turned the Cameo Into an Actual Wrestling Moment

Towns did not simply walk onto the stage, wave and disappear. Once he reached the ring, he chokeslammed McDonagh and then sent Dominik Mysterio through a table with another chokeslam.

Danhausen followed by finishing McDonagh with the Danhausen Death Drop for the victory. WWE’s official recap later described Towns as the “newly minted KAThausen,” confirming that the nickname was part of the actual presentation rather than something invented after the fact by fans.

Why the KAThausen Graphic Looks Like Wrestling, Not Basketball

The KAThausen Shirt treats Towns as a wrestling character first.

The black base gives the artwork the atmosphere of an old arena poster. Across the top, the giant KAThausen wordmark uses jagged orange lettering with blue-gray edging rather than clean basketball typography. Towns stands in the center wearing sunglasses and the royal-blue ChampHausen top, one arm raised as if he has already accepted the strange new identity.

Behind him, grayscale arena texture, WWE turnbuckle details and the red rope make the ring unmistakable. The Knicks colors remain present, but they have been translated into wrestling language.

The Stuffed Cat Is What Makes the Whole Joke Work

Wrestling often succeeds because it can spend several minutes constructing logic that would collapse anywhere else. The stuffed cat was not random decoration. Towns’ initials are KAT. Put the cat in Danhausen’s machine, let smoke and spectacle do the rest, and the machine produces KAT.

That kind of literal wordplay is completely at home inside Danhausen’s universe. The character’s appeal has always mixed horror imagery, cartoon logic, absurd curses and self-aware comedy. Towns did not have to imitate a conventional wrestler because the segment gave him a stranger role: a cloned basketball giant.

That is also why KAThausen has more staying power than an ordinary courtside cameo. It produced a name, an entrance, a visual transformation and a physical payoff inside the match.

From Knicks Champion to Temporary Wrestling Enforcer

The crossover also makes sense because Towns has never hidden his wrestling fandom. His appearance felt enthusiastic rather than contractual, and afterward he left the door open for the alter ego to return if Danhausen ever needed him again.

For Knicks fans, that places KAThausen inside the wider New York Knicks collection, where the championship season keeps spilling into New York culture beyond conventional basketball graphics. The broader NBA collection holds the league-wide side of that archive, while Karl-Anthony Towns search results and Danhausen-related designs follow both halves of the crossover.
